That Thing Called Love
Love has been often described by the tingling sensations one feels.
The strong emotions we get enveloped by for another person or for oneself,
Sometimes described by butterflies,
Or a faster heartbeat,
An euphoria.
A tsunami of strong, passionate emotions.
Love can be truly all those things,
But feelings are too temporary to rely on
Just like seasons, feelings change
The butterflies are soon forgotten when there's an offence.
The feeling of warmth can be quickly replaced with betrayal,
One is suddenly left with feelings of hurt, pain, and a void that seems impossible to fill.
It is impossible to rely on a human being, including yourself, to give you the feeling of wholeness we as humans desire.
Love is an expression. It is an action, and love is a verb, so it is beyond words.
The depth of love and the power it brings can only be described by a decision
The decision to overlook offence
The decision to forgive
The decision to let go of hurt
The void you feel is what can be called a Godshaped void, which only Him can fill.
God showed the first and perfect expression of love,
Life was given
Blood was shed
And forgiveness has become permanent
The grace to love others and even love yourself can be found in Him
In the season of love, in showing love to our loved ones, it is important to remember the greatest example of love that was demonstrated.
And to daily bask in that love
Let go of hurt, offence, and just forgive others, but most importantly, forgive yourself because you have already been forgiven.
Because in the end, love conquers all.
